American Laser Centers class action

Quat Law Offices is prosecuting a class action against American Laser Centers of Farmington Hills, Michigan. The case alleges that ALC employs a standard contract which deceives customers as to their cancellation rights, and refuses to allow cancellations and refunds even though services have not yet been rendered. The case is currently in the "discovery" phase, with a trial date expected late in 2007 or in 2008. The lead plaintiff in the case is a woman from Acton, Massachusetts.

Homeowners seek resicssion of Ameriquest mortgage

A West Newbury couple facing foreclosure has filed a complaint in bankruptcy court to rescind a mortgage obtained from Ameriquest in 2004. The basis of the complaint is that Ameriquest failed to comply with the Truth in Lending Act by not providing them with sufficient notices of their right to rescind at the time of the mortgage closing. The couple is represented in the rescission case by Quat Law Offices.

Unifund case results

Quat Law Offices is pleased to announce successful results in 2 collection cases brought by Unifund, a well-known debt buyer. One case - in which Unifund was seeking in excess of $12,000 - was dismissed without any payment by our client. The other case - in which Unifund was seeking in excess of $21,000 - was settled for less than 25% of the amount claimed.
